Rosettes Take the Lead

I love this gorgeous dress from Amsale!

I saw this dress for the first time a couple weeks ago at a private trunk show held at Felice Bridal for their customers only. I was there with our new VEIL TRENDS collection to customize pieces for these 2011 brides. A beautiful Colorado bride stepped out of the dressing room in this gorgeous gown.....just takes your breath away!

We took our new hair piece A110 and changed the flowers to Rosettes to match the look of this dress. We also eliminated the ostrich feather to give the bride a softer look in her hair. Her sister wore feathers in her hair for her wedding so our bride was able to create a unique look with her rosettes and personalize to her taste!

I really enjoyed making the rosettes from silk and tulle to accompany this dress, here is how they turned out:

I believe we will see more and more rosettes popping up in design for the next several years. This trend is not new and it is not passing anytime soon. In fact you may see more from VEIL TRENDS in our next collection!

Staying in an attitude of Thankfulness

Its that time of year again, where we are reminded of all the things that we are Thankful for.... But why only once a year are we to reflect on the good things in life? We all do it, Thanksgiving comes and we sit around a table and talk about the time that has gone by and what we are happy for. But then its off to bed early to rise early for the craziness of Black Friday and we suddenly forget all those things that we proclaimed to be Thankful for. We take on the next 31 days with full force until the night before Christmas forced to remember what we are Thankful for. We then face The New Year and set goals for all the things we are going to do in the New Year. The New Year always brings happiness that the Holidays are over and life can get back to normal! Forgetting those little things that we are Thankful for, until Thanksgiving rolls around again! Not me! Not this time!! Today I choose to stay in an attitude of Thankfulness, 365 days of just being Thankful, even for the small things. That I won't get lost in the hustle of life without being Thankful. I encourage you to take a minute every day just to remember what you are Thankful for! It will keep you happy!!

New 2010 Collection!

I am so excited about the new VEIL TRENDS collection! This was a really fun collection for me this year. It was all about shapes and making pieces that did not reflect the "traditional" look. Past VEIL TRENDS collections have always been about "wearable couture." Yes, fashion forward and pieces to get excited about, but certainly they need to be wearable!

This years collection is a little about taking it back to the 80's with fun poofs and veil volume that make you want to party!

Another fun element was adding amazing broaches from designer SarahKristine! This really made the collection stand out from years past and every single piece of this collection I am 100% thrilled about. There is not one design I questioned it's popularity or is it what brides are looking for. I cannot wait for our sale rep. to get out to stores this next month and get some feedback!

I absolutely love the images we just received from Amy at Jennifer's Bridal in DE. Amy purchased the V1109 and we did a custom sequin beading in the center of the organza flower to match the beading in her gown! Gorgeous!
This is one of my favorite designs from 2009 & has been a popular shape that will continue in our 2010 collection... And more about that collection to come!

Meet me Meghann Hewitt owner of de ma fille, now located in Fort Worth, Texas!

Meghann is a very special owner to me because she was the 1st store to ever carry VEIL TRENDS almost 5 years ago. When I first started my business, de ma fille was located in a beautiful shopping center in Denver's Tech Center. I met Meghann with my very first collection which in 2005 consisted of only about 4 or 5 designs. At that time she had been in the business for just 3 years, but helped me form the collection through her ideas of what she felt her brides were looking for. I owe much of my growth in that first year to her.

De ma fille has since moved to Colorado Springs, had new owners and now is back in the hands of it's creator in Fort Worth , Texas! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Meghann again and am happy for all of the Dallas/Fort Worth and surrounding brides who will have the privilege of working with de ma fille for their wedding day!

school. What a beautiful couple they are and of course the bride is just gorgeous and looks great in her seamless cut veil with a petite lace edge. Custom design of course.

And this lovely bride and groom we met this past March in Hawaii while attending the Bob Harrison Increase Event. They were then planning their wedding and luckily the bride had not purchased her veil yet...so......of course :)

Back in February 2009, Ellynne Bridal in Lincoln, Nebraska hosted a Veil Trends trunk show that I was able to attend and meet with brides. It is always so much fun to hear from the brides after the event and this morning we received the following email and photo from one of the brides at this event:

I just wanted to say thank you so much for the great veil and flower. It was perfect and better than anything I found out there! I looked and looked and didn't find anything that came close to the quality and style that your veils did! Jennifer's Bridal

Jennifer's Bridal is set in the beautiful nook of Hockessin Corner in Hockessin, Delaware. It's fairly easy to pass it by if you miss the turn, however Debbie Sawdey, owner of Jennifer's says it never kept a bride from coming and I can see why...

I spent the day at Jennifer's and what a delight. The 2nd level of this boutique is structured somewhat like a loft and an old barn with wood beams and beautiful white dresses everywhere. Look at this front entry, it is so quaint and posh.

And the ladies of Jennifer's....wow! These ladies really know bridal couture and how to help their brides. It was so much fun to work side by side with them as brides passed through to try on gowns and get custom made veils by yours truly :) I had fun!

I also had the honor of fitting manager Amy ( pictured far left) with one of our new designs for her May wedding! She chose our new piece V1109

The Bride to Be

Last week I drove from Cleveland to Fort Wayne, Indiana to meet with The Bride to Be owners/sisters Kate and Sarah. When I pulled up to this gorgeous building I literally gasped. It was a little bridal oasis with a water fountain near the side courtyard of the building. It made me feel soothed, calm and excited all at the same time.

When I stepped inside, same feeling. Kate and Sarah are two amazing ladies. My time with them was completely wonderful and they definitely create an environment that welcomes brides and designers alike.

I spent most of the day there, so I am very disappointed that once again I did not snap a photo of our time together, so I stole some pictures from their site to give you an image of my visit. To the right is a photo of Kate assisting a bride.

I left excited for my next return, which is looking like a trunk show in the spring, so stay tuned.

Leonardo's Bridal Boutique

Leonardo's Bridal in Rocky River, Ohio has been in the business of dressing brides for over 30 years! Katy Wasserman purchased the boutique a year ago and has transformed this traditional store into a modern, crisp, spacious boutique.

I was thrilled not only meet Katy for the first time, but also to watch a bride try on gowns in her store and experience her "this is the one" moment for the very first time. I don't get to see that often as a designer, but how fun to coo over this bride with Katy as we watched the bride light up, knowing her search had come to an end <3

The Perfect Bride

You cannot walk into The Perfect Bride in Rocky River, Ohio and not have a great time! *Unless you are by nature a grouch :P Carly (far left) is so awesomely energetic and fun, she sweeps through the store swooping up the perfect accessories, dresses, mother dresses...etc, as if she knows exactly what that customer is looking for.

Cathy Kuhn (center) is the owner of this beautiful store and such a down to earth, knowledgeable woman who certainly knows the ins and outs of the bridal industry. The store is so welcoming, it's as if you are a guest in their home. I was not anxious to leave and they gracious let me loiter all day and enjoy the experience of The Perfect Bride! This was a day well spent! Oh.....and if you go....have lunch next door!!

A Bride's Design

I really love the overcast skies of Ohio this morning. Seriously, there is something soothing about it. I am here in Westlake, Ohio; where yesterday I spent the evening at A Brides Design with owner Carilyn Stickney.

It was a treat to meet with her brides and see the boutique where you can purchase from a beautiful selection of gowns or have Carilyn or partner Laura actually make you a custom gown!

It is always a pleasure to work directly with brides and yesterday we had a blast with one of A Brides Design brides who purchased this V108.

It is so fun when you fit a bride with a veil that completely shouts out her personality and this one really did!!

The bride said she would send a photo after her October wedding, so I will be anxious to post the picture.

Colorado Bridal Shop

Fall is fast approaching which means boutique owners and designers are preparing for the big showcase of dresses, shoes and of course accessories for 2010! Many designers choose to take their collections to NY and Chicago to meet with owners for one of the bridal industries biggest weekends. This year, however, Veil Trends is bringing the collection directly to the boutiques for a personal consultation with the designer Jolene Picone.

It's all starting this weekend with Little White Dress Bridal Shop at the Victorian Center in Castle Rock, CO!

Today I met with Little White Dress owner Cate Malone. Because VT manufactures here in Colorado I have had the unique opportunity to personally visit LWD many times. I love coming to Cate's boutique in the historic downtown Castle Rock! If you have ever walked into this shop you know how much Cate has personally invested into every detail of this store. It is stunning. The dresses and accessories are all gorgeous and it is such a warm environment to settle in her big red chairs and watch brides stand on beautiful pedestals in front of floor to ceiling mirrors.

She Don't Know She's Beautiful

This is a fun blog for me. Today I get to introduce you to a woman I have come to adore, she is a fantastic lady and on top of it an amazing hair dresser!! I met Kaili Nguyen ( now Mrs. Giersdorf ) at Tony & Guy in Park Meadows. Kaili has been cutting my hair for almost a year now and through the course of appointments I learned she was getting married and did not yet have a veil!! Can you imagine? ha

Kaili is not your traditional bride and her dress was blue, so this was prime opportunity to come up with a creative solution for her. We had so much fun and after a couple veil trials and color ideas, Kaili went with Russian Blusher V1008 and and Ostrich feather hair piece A105. However we still were missing something and one day Kaili showed up with peacock feathers from a craft store. They were the perfect compliment of blue and green. Blue matching her dress and Green matching her wedding ring!

AWESOME NEW TRENDS!!!!
I am having a great time with this new accessory trend. I have done so many accessory combinations I just have to share it, because it is a fantastic idea. As of late, mostly through trunk shows, when brides have the opportunity to see all of our accessories in one place they are combining pieces to create their own custom look......and it is producing some very fun results.

Today I decided to photograph two of these combinations to show you what I am doing....

The first is the combination of 2 accessories; One of them is our Tulle Flower A505, shown in Ecru combined with our Feather Flower FL382 in Ivory:

There are just so many ways to customize these accessories! I have more, but did not photograph them....sorry. However one really fun piece I plan to blog soon is a custom headpiece I did for my Awesome Hair Stylist. She is getting married at the end of this month, so as soon as she gets her pictures, one will be on this blog........it's just too fun!

It's less than 40 pages and provides great content. The photo above is a happenings page that announced our collaboration with Lia Terni.

Innovation

This is a picture taken of myself and my husband last week in Hawaii. Now, Hawaii is a fantastic place to travel too, but we did not go to Hawaii to be in Hawaii, we went for the Bob Harrison Increase Event. As entrepreneurs and business owners it is ultimately important to connect with people who think BIG and go BIG. We cannot afford to miss this event each year in Hawaii.

I would like to share with you something that I learned that applies not only to entrepreneurs and business owners, but to people in general. Here is one of my favorite quotes from this past week:

"Crisis and Pressure are the Incubator of Innovation." Dr. Myles Monroe

As humans our automatic response to pressure and crisis is to get out of it as quickly as possible, doesn't matter how, just get me out. Pressure takes us to a place of being uncomfortable. Imagine all of the people in our nation who are uncomfortable right now or maybe that's you.

Bob Harrison illustrated this idea with a story about a boy, who, seeing a butterfly struggling to get out of a cocoon decided to help the butterfly. He got a scissors and cut the cocoon and the butterfly broke through. However, the butterfly could not fly because the pressure to get out of the cocoon is the very thing that strengthens it's wings to fly.

In this season of economic pressure what creative idea or innovation do you have inside of you? In this season inside the cocoon what can you produce so that when the pressure is on, your struggle to break through the resistance will give you the ability to fly?

For me, I want to be an innovator in my industry. I want to use my creativity to come up with unique and innovative designs that no one has thought of yet. And really, I like to change the way people do business. It really should be fun and exciting and about helping people get what they need. Zig Ziglar says,"If you help enough other people get what they want, you always get what you want." I love that!

Anyway...what does this have to do with Veil Trends?......Oh absolutely nothing :)

YES! Here it is, finally the "un-veiling" of plans in the works! This past Fall I did a blog on an amazing designer I met at market, Lia Terni. Well shortly after that time Lia and I decided to collaborate our designs to offer unique, never before seen pieces to the bridal industry and here there are!

Fantastic Weekend

Meet Lynne Rustad of Ellynne Bridal and Nora A'Bell, publisher of the Nebraska Wedding Planner. Lynne hosted the most fantastic Trunk Show this past weekend at her Couture Boutique in Lincoln, Nebraska. Lynne's beautiful boutique flooded with brides Saturday for this one day event.

Veil Trends (myself in this photo) was an honored guest this weekend along with a florist, cheesecake caterer and jewelry designer brought in by Nora A'Bell to give brides a dress fitting they will never forget. Photographer Gina Zabloudil was also on the scene photographing brides as they selected gowns, some for the first time, capturing all the images you see in this blog. Brides were then emailed these images all for free! I mean.....who ever gets images taken by a professional photographer for their first time trying on bridal gowns??? Priceless.

This is a bride who was trying on gowns for the first time ever and found her dream dress as the 3rd she tried on, along with style V508 from VEIL TRENDS that matched perfectly :)

The Bride had decided on this gown and wasn't sure what she would do for accessories.
"Definitely not a feather girl," this bride loved the idea of FL645 (which is a FEATHER). It is small and soft looking and you would never know it was feather until you touched it. Side Note: This is what makes trunk shows so much fun... putting something on a bride they would never put on themselves and finding them loving it!

This bride came in with her mom wanting to buy a Red wedding gown for her 2009 December wedding. After spending time with an Ellynne consultant, she found this beautiful Pearl colored dress accented with a Red Satin Ribbon ( the consultant's idea...awesome! ). Here she is in a Russian Blusher v1606 w/FL382.

This bride was ecstatic that she finally found the perfect hair piece, an Ostrich feather pin! She bought it right then and there. This hair piece A105 was such a hit this weekend.

This was such a sweet moment captured buy Gina of Zabloudil Photographics. This was the first dress shopping of this mother and daughter who were in tears after 2 gowns.

It was such a Fantastic Weekend, I truly enjoyed my time in Nebraska with Lynne and all of the wonderful ladies of Ellynne Bridal. I am anxious to return in the fall to do it all again!

And I am especially grateful to Nora A'Bell of the Nebraska Wedding Planner who connected us all and made this a truly unforgettable weekend.

Introducing Alisa Benay Bridal Couture

Back in 2008 I was introduced to designer Alisa Benay through Ladies Who Launch. Alisa received a BA in Fashion Design from the Rogers and Silverman School of Fashion Design and Merchandising at Kent State University in 1994. She has had her custom design studio for 15 years in Colorado Springs servicing individual brides and custom making gowns.....

Until.......now! Alisa will be launching her line of "Modern Vintage" gowns this March in Colorado Springs. In 2009 Alisa's collection is going national and will be available through boutiques throughout the US. (Designs already available at Little White Dress bridal shop in Castle Rock, CO)

So why I am I posting Alisa Benay on the VEIL TRENDS blog? 1. To introduce you to an up and coming new designer. I Love What I do

I absolutely enjoy Veil Trends. I love the industry and most of the people :) I get excited about the little things like when I find a new ribbon or lace. I always feel proud to see my designs on the heads of brides. I enjoy seeing the whole package, when a bride has chosen all her accessories and puts the look together. It's fun and weddings are a beautiful life event.

But let's be frank.....some days are tough. There are days I get overloaded and work from morning, through lunch and don't stop til late in the evening. When my schedule is thick and I start to feel the stress I just look to my refrigerator! No...not to eat! I look at this:

What is this you ask? This is a little bit of inspiration from my wonderful God-daughter Isabell. Isbaell colored this picture for me in 2008 and it is sits front and center on my refrigerator. It is a picture of a beautiful bride walking down the isle :)

One of the greatest keys to success in business and life is to constantly surround yourself with positive images of where you are going. Whatever that means for your life or business, you have got to have an image constantly reminding you of your goal or vision.

*If you have never been to the islands of Hawaii and have always dreamed of going, get a calendar of the islands in your office or a screen saver on your computer.

The day the idea of Veil Trends was launched, the first thing I did was bought a magazine and tore off the front page. I decided that if I was going to start a company I was going all the way to reach brides across the US and I wanted Veil Trends to be on the cover of a national magazine. I looked at the magazine cover ever day since 2005 and in 2007 Veil Trends was featured on the front cover of Modern Bride along with a editorial image on the inside of the magazine!

I share this with you as the new year begins because this is often the time for resolutions and goal setting. What is it you want to achieve in 2009? Do you want to be married? Do you want more success in your business, if so what exactly does that mean? I encourage you today to get a vision of where you want to be in 2009. Once you know what that means to you, find an image or physical object to put in front of your eyes every day.

Yesterday I received a fun email from Encore Bridal, who carries our bridal veils. She was working with a bride out of state to get her the perfect veil, and without having ever met the bride or seen her dress, this is the response owner Julie Jones received from her bride:

I am over the moon with my veil! I was so excited when it arrived that I spent Saturday afternoon back at the wedding dress shop trying it on with my gown....They look like they're made for each other..in fact, it appears that my gown is made from something almost identical to English Tulle...I was so happy I stood in front of the mirror for almost an hour just looking. I can't wait to wear it on my wedding day.

The veil the bride is talking about is our English Tulle veil as pictured below. This veil is not made of the tulle you see in most veils. It is a softer, yet heavier fabric with an elegant transparency.

Russian Blusher Style No. V1606

This blog is very intentional, specific and maybe even a life saver for a few bridal boutiques :) We have a really great veil we call a Russian Blusher (a.k.a V1606) that is very versitile! We originally created the veil to be worn in the 1st direction you will see it, however it has been open to interpretation over the last two years.

In this first view you see the veil being worn in it's original design. Slightly smaller on top, the veil fits this direction when the flower is on the brides left side.

If you were to then turn the veil upside down, so the flower is now on the right side, you will acheive this look, which almost makes the veil look like a hat and the feather is facing downward.

To get the look completely out of the face, the combs can be arranged any way in the hair to create a Vintage look.

And finally at market last weekend as I was explaining the above arrangements to Debbie of Jennifer's Bridal, she says, " or you can wear it across the back." I like the way you think! And....Bingo!

There are so many great things to blog about after you have been to such an amazing bridal market. One of the greatest aspects of market is being surrounded by such creative talent and today I want to introduce you to one of amazing designers I met this year from Madrid.

Lia Terni's designs are so beautifully sculpted and designed, you have to visit her site to see them on her models, they are absolutely stunning!

A friend of mine, Jennifer Gray wore a different headpiece from Lia Terni everyday at market and raved about how comfortable they are to wear. She said they were very light weight and did not dig into her head which most bridal headbands tend to do.

I am not much of an accessories wearer myself, but I did wear this headband pictured above and I have to say, it was very comfortable and so cute!

Sneak Peek at Fall Bridal Market

I love Fall! I love the leaves changing and pulling a warm sweater over my head and throwing on a pair of jeans. But even more than that, I love Fall because it means Bridal Market!

Every Fall Veil Trends showcases our new designs in both Chicago and New York. This year I am extremely excited about all of the new designs we are putting out there! So in my excitement I have decided to post a Sneak Peek at some of my favorite designs.

This is a gorgeous tulle imported from Europe with clear sparkling dots all over the fabric! We also have this in a chapel length, it is stunning!!

Can a designer be partial? Because the veil shown above is my FAVORITE! The photo does not do justice to this fabulous lace with organza overlay!! Holy Cow and we have this is 3 different designs! Love it!

This veil is so Fun! I love shape and think it will be huge hit at market. The front says Wow, but the back is even better!

So there you have it. Only three of the over 20 new designs that will make their debut at Market this Fall. If you are a bride, you will have to wait to see our new designs when our photo shoot is complete at the end of the year.

Have Your Cake & Eat It Too!

Congratulations Christa and Tim!!

This is my friend Christa. Christa was recently married in Mexico and had a certain look she was going for that complimented her destination wedding.....as you can already see...she achieved it! Here's the scoop:

Christa found an awesome gown from designer Jessica McClintock. The style was perfect for destination, but even better was the BEAUTIFUL lace detail on the back of the dress. ** See picture below:

When it came time for trying on veils, Christa was concerned that a veil would cover the lace detail on the back of the dress.

I've heard it before and the question is; Can you have your cake and eat it too? ABSOLUTELY! Style V2306 was the perfect fit. This veil has a great shape with two layers, but it is not heavy on tulle and has zero gathering on the comb. Sheer with texture, it was a perfect fit :)

This picture is so great because after we found the right veil style we added the flower piece in the side of her hair. This is a new piece that is not currently on our website. Christa's necklace was pearls with some blue beads in it, so we matched that by adding pearl and blue beads into the center of her flower. Look how great it matches with her bouquet!!

If you asked Christa...can you really get the look you want.....I mean to the last detail? She would tell you .....YES! I know because I asked her :)

Dress Up

I had a wonderful opportunity at the beginning of August to spend an entire week with my 10 year old niece Asia. Asia lives in Wisconsin and traveled to Colorado to spend her 11th birthday with myself and my husband. What a blast!

First I will have to mention that it is a very popular profession to be a bridal veil designer when you have a 10 year old in your home! There are so many wonderful things I can say about being an Aunti, however what I am going to blog about is something that brought me back to my own childhood memories.......Dress Up!

Day 1 of Asia's vacation, the first thing she asked was if she could try on some bridal veils. I thought.....well of course. I quickly realized the opportunity to not only to entertain her, but also to turn an average morning into a fantasy world of bridal dress up. Trying on veils actually turned into a mini photo shoot! We put her in a dress, all pinned up to fit her, did her hair, put on a little eye shadow, lipstick and here are the final results:

No she is not 20...she is actually 10 in this photo! Model material? I would have to say yes!

For the rest of the day I received praises of being the best Aunti ever!...and so much fun! I knew her vacation was off to a good start and that was a good feeling.

So why am I blogging about Dress Up? First to show you how cute my niece is. Second to remind you that there is still a bit of Dress Up in each of us as women. We get the feeling when we have a special event to dress up for, when we prepared for prom, when we go to a show, when we shop, when we are preparing for a first date. But the biggest Dress Up event of our lives is when we are THE BRIDE!

Being a bride is the ultimate day of Dress Up as an adult. It is our last chance to really go all out and be the center of attention. Because it is only for a day, we want the perfect dress, veil and accessories that make a statement about who we are, our style and taste. We spend all kinds of time choosing colors for our event and decor that will make our family and friends say wow!

As a wedding professional I always remind myself of this fact. I design and create bridal veils for this one special day! If you are a wedding professional I implore you to remind yourself of this as well and to be patient with your brides as they endeavour to make their biggest day of Dress Up a dream come true. And if you are a bride I remind you to enjoy yourself, have fun and yes of course Dress Up!!

Dressing the Bride!

You would think, as a designer, that I see brides all the time. This is not true! Most of the time I see my designs on models at photo shoots or hanging in our studio. So it is always exciting to see photos sent in by brides or retail stores! *insert* if you are a VT bride, we would love to see your photos, and post them on our site!!

On the other hand, a wonderful aspect of being a designer has always been the honor of designing for friends. Recently..... our fearless Ladies Who Launch, Denver leader, Nancy Sharp was married to Channel 7 anchor Steve Saunders.

Aren't they beautiful?

Nancy bought a Calvin Klein gown in a very beautiful champagne color, so we chose an Ecru color tulle with a tan edge to compliment the color of the gown. * A Perfect Match* At first she thought she wanted and very simple 2 layer veil style V505. However, after insisting Nancy try every length to ensure she was getting exactly what she wanted, she decided on a ballet length veil with a blusher and scattered pearls! It was beautiful and pulled her whole look together! And I was thrilled at the opportunity to be a part!!!

Congratulations Nancy, you are truly beautiful inside and out!

Interestingly enough, I also designed the exact same veil for a friend last summer. She chose the same veil w/out the pearls . Here is a photo of her Hawaii wedding.

Of all the veils I have created for friends, I would say that this veil is by far the most popular! The reason? The ballet length veil gives you the long flowing look, but you can wear it to the reception as well and it won't drag on the ground. Brides love it!

Bride of Color

Finally Color! I was thrilled a couple weeks ago to receive the Jun/July issue of Modern Bride and see our Antique Gold veil on the inside story "Plaza Suite." Better still were the calls and emails from brides asking about Antique Gold!

One bride from New York mentioned that she wanted the color to match her shoes and the accent colors of her wedding; her dress was Ivory. I absolutely LOVE the creativity and uniqueness of this idea. Also....I have seen Antique Gold photographed and it is stunning!

As a bridal veil designer one of challenges I face is finding tulle to match all of the wonderfully colored gowns designer's are putting out. I always enjoy the challenge and currently Veil Trends carries 20 bridal colors!!

Putting the Look Together

Recently InStyle Weddings did a great story in their Spring 2008 issue entitled Veil Call. One of the veils features was our own V105. This Veil was pictured as a great option for a short dress.

Although I completely agree that the Russian Blusher works perfectly with a short dress, it is also very classy with a Silk or Chiffon mermaid style gown.

I am going to share with you a story I put together for Iowa's Event Planner entitled The Finishing Touch. This story encompasses 4 unique looks all using the same gown. I love this story because it gives you an idea of how you can drastically change your bridal look simply by changing out accessories.

The Finishing Touch

This elbow length, ribbon edged veil is the perfect accent for an elegant yet simple look. The veil ties in the beautiful ribbon detail in the gown. The ivory flowered ring and simple pearl earings pull the look togther for a soft finishing touch.

Traditional

This full lace mantilla is sure to make a statement. For brides who are searching for a traditional look but want something unique this veil is a perfect piece. You may want to look for a dress to accent your veil!

Choosing the Right Bridal Veil Length

Greetings and Welcome to the Veil Trends blog! My name is Jolene Picone and I am the designer for VEIL TRENDS bridal veils. The no. 1 question I encounter as a designer is "How do I choose the right veil length for my dress?" So before we tackle the infamous question it is important to understand veil terminology. Below is a veil chart that addresses the basic veil lengths and below that is a description of each:

Fly Away veil is the shortest length veil. This veil is also sometimes called a shoulder length veil. Veil Trends considers the Fly Away veil to be any veil 20" long or shorter.

Blusher is the veiling that covers the face when you walk down the isle. The blusher can be worn during the entire ceremony until the first kiss as husband and wife or it can be pulled back over the bride's face before she is given away by father. ( or by person that walks the bride down the aisle. ) A blusher can be any length from about 20" to even a dramatic 60" or more.

Elbow length veil is just that; a veil that hits the bride below the shoulder or near the elbow. A common length is around 28".

Fingertip length hits...you guessed it, right at the fingertips or around the hand. A typical length for this veil is 36".

Ballet length is a veil that hits your body somwhere between your knees and calves. This veil is also sometimes called a waltz veil. Veil Trends measures a ballet length veil at 56".

Chapel length veils are 108" long and extend all the way to the ground. The width of the veil can range anywhere from 56" wide to 108" wide, depending on the width of your dress or personal preference.

Cathedral veils are the longest veil length and extend well past the end of your dress train. They are typically worn in church settings for a dramatic walk down a long aisle. A cathedral veil is aprox. 120" or longer.

Different designer's may come up with new names for each of these lengths, but the names listed above are the most common. Every one of these veils can come in a variety of lengths and widths. Common lengths are listed above. The most common veiling widths are 108" wide, 72" wide and 54" wide. In my next blog we tackle the question above, "How do I choose the right veil length for my dress?"
